The Inter-Parliamentary Union has addressed repression faced by the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) in Turkey. The crackdown by Turkey’s government on the HDP was also highlighted at the Transform! Europe conference last week.
During a rally in the Kurdish-populated province of Diyarbakır, Turkish President Erdoğan gave a racist speech and denied the Kurdish identity of Kurdish politicians active in Turkey.
Large demonstrations took place in Italy in solidarity with Kurdish protesters in Iran under the “Jin, Jîyan, Azadî” slogan, and called on the Italian government to take action against the use of chemical weapons by the Turkish state.
