European politicians have reacted with anger to Turkey’s attempts to block Sweden and Finland from joining NATO until a series of conditions are met. A Swedish MP of Kurdish origin has said it’s the Turkish ambassador who should be expelled for allegedly demanding her extradition, while Finland’s Parliamentary Speaker has said his country will not be meeting Turkey’s demands for extradition.
Turkey’s attacks on neighbouring Kurdish regions continue apace, with drone strikes hitting both Makhmour refugee camp and a town in the neighbouring Kurdistan Region of Iraq, killing six, alongside continued shelling of Kurdish villages in Syria.
