Turkey’s pro-Kurdish opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party has condemned a far-right demonstration on Saturday involving the burning of the Quran outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm.
Over 500 pro-Kurdish demonstrators gathered in the Swedish capital to protest against the Turkish government’s demands for Sweden to crack down on Kurdish activists, and to call for the cancellation of the trilateral memorandum between Turkey, Sweden and Finland.
A court in Turkey’s southeastern province of Şırnak has released on bail a village guard who allegedly sexually abused a 14-year-old child. The numbers of crimes committed by village guards, officially appointed paramilitary forces in the region, have increased significantly in recent years.
Five Kurdish people from Duhok in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, were killed in an armed attack in Turkey’s southeastern province of Mardin on 19 January. The People’s Defence Forces said on Sunday that the Turkish state is trying to intimidate Kurds with the attack.
