A meeting was held between Syrian Kurdish officials Mazloum Abdî, Iraqi Kurdish Patriotic Union of Kurdistan leader Bafel Talabani and anti-ISIS Coalition commander Matthew McFarlane to discuss the political situation in North and East Syria and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Turkish President Erdoğan’s recent actions ‘disturbing’ and ‘totally unacceptable,’ according to Bob Menendez, US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair. Menendez called on the United States and international community to stand against Turkish violations committed in both the foreign and domestic realms.
Iran’s crackdown on the countrywide protests continues as they arrest celebrated actress Taraneh Alidoosti over her recent Instagram posts. Footballer Nasr Azadani is also reportedly facing the death penalty in the country over his role in the protests.
“We shall either find a way or make one,” says a Kurdish MP during a sit-in at Turkey’s Justice Ministry as Peoples’ Democratic Party MPs demand the removal of absolute incommunicado conditions imposed on leader Abdullah Öcalan.
In other news, The Taliban continue to limit the rights of women in Afghanistan, with the government banning all women from attending university in the country via a letter sent on Tuesday. The international community has denounced the decision.
