Russia approves Turkey’s ground operation into North East Syria, Erdoğan claimed. Contradicting the Turkish president, Russia’s deputy foreign minister said Moscow was trying to persuade Ankara to halt further incursions into the region.
Turkish airstrikes, renewed in November, have resulted in the closure of multiple schools in the region. A Syrian Democratic Council official has said that Turkish aggression was prolonging the Syrian crisis.
The European Union has imposed further sanctions 4on Iran following reports of human rights violations during the crackdown on protests.
As proceedings that seek to lift the legislative immunity of 25 MPs remain underway in the Turkish Parliament; HDP said the AKP government aimed to eliminate pro-Kurdish opposition via lifting parliamentary immunities.
Cholera cases have risen in all regions of Syria, according to a new report from the World Health Organisation released on Monday. The figures show a 0.2 percent death rate.
