Three more protesters have been sentenced to death by Iranian courts. At least 17 people have now been handed capital punishment, and four already executed, for participation in the nationwide uprisings.
The chairwoman of the Turkish Medical Association, Dr Şebnem Korur Fincancı, has been released from prison, having been in pre-trial detention since late October. The release order came at the same hearing which sentenced her to 2 years, 8 months and 15 days in prison over calls for an independent investigation into the Turkish army’s alleged use of chemical weapons.
Peoples’ Democratic Party co-chair Mithat Sancar has said that the Turkish Constitutional Court should only issue a ruling on the potential closure of the party after the upcoming presidential elections.
