Hotel İsios has become a symbol of the earthquake disaster for Turkish Cypriots, on the 6 February a group of 35 from north Cyprus, including 26 students, plus a group of 31 guides died under rubble waiting for Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority’s search and rescue teams to arrive. An audio has been released of calls for help sent via WhatsApp from beneath the rubble.
Three Yazidi fighters were killed on Monday by a Turkish drone in the northern Iraqi town of Shengal (Sinjar). The latest Turkish attack in northern Iraq targeted a vehicle carrying members of the Sinjar Resistance Unit, which was formed in 2014 to drive out ISIS from the area.
The Kurdish armed group in northern Iraq, stated on Tuesday that a man portrayed as a PKK member and allegedly captured by Turkish intelligence has no ties to the Kurdistan freedom movement, and that Turkish media released the report to raise the profile of the Turkish Intelligence Agency.
