The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) found on Tuesday that the detention of Kurdish politicians Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ during a domestic legal process in Turkey amounted to a violation of rights. The pro- Kurdish HDP said Turkish authorities must act in line with the court’s findings.
In other election news, 450 electoral observers deployed by Turkey’s Human Rights Association recorded widespread rights violations, restrictive legal practices, and obstacles to the freedom of expression.
A European Parliament conference, under the title: “The Women-Led Uprising in Iran: Iran at the Crossroads Between Repression or Revolution,” was organised in cooperation with the Kurdish Institute of Brussels.
