Mobile libraries will travel across 22 cities in Europe to promote the ‘End the isolation, fascism, occupation: Time to ensure freedom’ campaign that was launched by the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) on 12 September 2020.
The KCK launched the international campaign on 12 September 2020 and appealed to all Kurds living around the world and international supporters of the Kurdish freedom struggle to promote the campaign for the freedom of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan. Abdullah Öcalan has been held in a high security prison island in Turkey for 22 years under prison isolation conditions.
The ‘library on wheels’ – which houses an extensive collection of the works of Abdullah Öcalan – began its journey from Bremen in Germany. Another ‘library on wheels’ began its journey from Stockholm in Sweden. The initiative will see the mobile libraries travelling across 22 cities in Europe. Abdullah Öcalan’s books in Turkish and Kurdish, translated also into a number of languages including German and English, will be made available to international readers and members of the public in these cities. People in Europe who are interested in Abdullah Öcalan’s literature will have the opportunity to access his books through the ‘Library on Wheels for freedom for Öcalan’.
