Zeyneb Murad, Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) co-chair, has condemned the recent offensive of the Turkish army into Iraqi Kurdistan (KRI), during the 22nd General Assembly of the KNK.
Calling all Kurdish political parties and organisations to protest against “this colonial operation”, Murad said the recent offensive targets all of Kurdistan and all Kurds, not just the KRI.
“Dear respected audience, with this Turkish State’s offensive, all of the Kurds living everywhere in the world, and particularly those living in the Kurdistan Region (KRI) have faced the greatest ever threat to their existence,” Murad said, stating that, “The Turkish State aims to completely end the status of the KRI!”
“This war and offensive is against all of us. It is not targeting a particular region, but all of Kurdistan in general,” the KNK co-chair added.
During the conference, the KNK’s Adem Uzun underscored the existential threats facing Kurds in the Middle East, advocating an urgent national unity conference to safeguard their future.
Over 200 delegates have gathered to discuss political and social developments across the Kurdish regions during the General Assembly. The Assembly, noted for its critical timing, was attended by the Governor of Sulaymaniyah (Sılemani), Heval Abubakir.
The Assembly is taking place during a period when the Turkish state is accelerating its search for support both in the Middle East and the West for its new military operation.
