Indicating that they had to migrate for the third time due to the attacks of the Turkish state and its affiliated armed groups, the internally displaced refugees from Tell Abiyad (Girê Spî) pointed out that the Turkish state attacks Kurds everywhere.
The town was controlled by the Syrian Democratic forces (SDF) on 16 June 2015. In October 2019, Turkish armed forces began to attack cities of Rojava and also particularly in the region around Tell Abiyad (Girê Spî) and Ras al-Ayn (Serê Kaniyê), Turkish-backed forces are accused of attacking civilians and plundering private and public properties, businesses and cooperatives.
According to Hawarnews, while the attacks that are changing the demographic structure of Northern and Eastern Syria continue, Turkish state affiliated groups and their families are occupying the homes of people who have been forced to migrate. Internally displaced refugees say that they had to migrate from Tell Abyad (Girê Spî) and cannot return to their homes due to Turkish affilated militas occupying their homes.
Munira Helef Derviş from Tell Abyad (Girê Spî), said, “We had to migrate due to the brutal attacks of the Turkish state. Wherever there are Kurds in the world, the Turkish state attacks them. The United Nations (UN) and human rights organisations remain silent to this blatant aggression. The people here are, they will liberate their land. We gave thousands of martyrs for this land. And we will give thousands more.” she said.
Akisa Mahmut, one of the internally displaced Kurdish refugees, emphasised that the Turkish state forced them to migrate and that the armed groups affilated and controlled by the Turkish state had plundered their remaining property.
Meha Mustafa said, “We had to migrate due to the attacks of FSA (Free Syrian Army) affiliated to the Turkish state. The second time, we migrated because of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), which is also supported by the Turkish state. Today, we had to migrate again due to the attacks of the “Syrian National Army” gangs affiliated to the Turkish state. “Our house and all our remaining property were looted by gangs”.
