“The solution to the Kurdish question will be under the leadership of Mr Abdullah Öcalan, and all Kurdish actors agree that this will benefit the entire Kurdish people,” Keskin Bayındır, co-chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), declared on Tuesday at the grave of Jalal Talabani in Sulaymaniyah (Silêmanî), Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).
Bayındır spoke on behalf of the İmralı Delegation of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party, which has been meeting with Kurdish political figures in the KRI. The delegation concluded its visit with a high-level discussion in Debashan, the home of late Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, where they met with Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) leader Bafel Talabani and Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Deputy Prime Minister Kubat Talabani.
“We shared Mr. Öcalan’s messages with Kubat and Bafel Talabani. We held an important meeting for about an hour and a half, discussing the resolution of the Kurdish question, the situation in Rojava, and peace between the Kurdish and Turkish peoples,” Bayındır stated.
Referring to the historic role of Jalal Talabani in previous peace efforts, Bayındır added, “Today, Bafel and Kubat Talabani are taking on this responsibility. Kurdish actors will play a historic role in this process. We are confident of this, and we appreciate their efforts.”
The delegation expressed optimism about a peaceful resolution, stating that all Kurdish political parties remain committed to securing their gains and ensuring stability. A detailed written statement on the meetings is expected soon.
