Adnan Kilo, the head of the Kurdistan Fraternity Party, has publicly condemned Turkey’s military’s operations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) and criticised the region’s Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) for cooperation with Turkey.
Speaking with ANHA agency on Thursday, Kilo highlighted the Turkish state’s exploitation of regional crises to intensify assaults on Kurdish territories, including Iraqi Kurdistan and North and East Syria.
Kilo accused Turkey of using the Astana meetings to further colonial ambitions against the Kurds, employing divisive tactics to undermine Kurdish unity and rights. He expressed particular concern over the KDP’s alignment with Turkey, fearing it could lead to intra-Kurdish conflict and undermine the national cause.
“The Turkish occupation and its historical strategy of division threaten the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people,” Kilo stated, emphasising the need for Kurdish resistance against both Turkish military bases in Iraqi Kurdistan and the divisive policies of the KDP.
Kilo’s call to action extends to all Kurdish factions, urging them to prioritise the Kurdish cause above political and economic interests, particularly in light of the current global turmoil.
