The military campaign launched by Turkey in the Zap, Metina and Avashin regions of the Federal Region of Kurdistan has been continuing since late April.
Fighters of the People’s Defence Forces, (HPG) and Free Women’s Units (YJA-Star), a female-only military wing of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) have been active in the counter-attacks of the PKK against Turkish forces that the PKK announced as “revolutionary actions of Cenga Xabur and Bazen Zagrosê”.
As Turkish fighter jets drop bombs over PKK targets, also causing damage in civilian residential areas, Peoples’ Defence Forces (HPG) announced on Tuesday the identity information of the six Kurdish fighters who lost their lives due to the attacks of the Turkish armed forces, according to ANF.
“The occupiers, who have been confronted with the response of the guerillas on every step they take in Zap, Avashin and Metina, face defeat one more time. Our comrades Ronahî, Nesrîn, Berfîn, Marya, Demhat and Devran who have been on the frontlines since the operation began have taken their places in the list of the Martyrs of Kurdistan and they have become the immortal symbols of the free future of our people,” the HPG said.
Fighters who have joined the PKK’s recent counter-attacks against the Turkish armed forces also shared new messages amid clashes with the ANF.
Arîn Amed, a fighter of the YJA-Star shared her views as follows:
“We respond to their attacks and their attempts to occupy our lands. Their fear in the face of our actions demonstrates the will of the guerilla. The reason they act so aggressively is because they face defeat,” she said.
She stated that the actions in Cenga Xabur “will result in major consequences.”
“We are successful and we have to be successful. There is a force which has a big heart against them. There is a force the heart of which beats in our leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan]. I wish success to all our friends who take part in this war. I am happy to be a part of this action,” she said.
Egit Serhat from the HPG shared his messages specifically sharing information regarding the clashes on Zendura Hill.
“I especially salute the friends who resist on Zendura Hill,” he said. “They wage a war there with rich tactics against the enemy. They hit the enemy hard dexterously.”
He added: “This war has shown how fainthearted the Turkish army is. They only have the power of high-tech weapons in their immoral war against us.”
Serhat emphasised the perseverance of the Kurdish fighters responding to the ongoing Turkish campaign. “No force can defeat the Kurdistan freedom guerilla any more,” he said.
“We say, ‘Dem dema Azadiyê ye’. We say the day has come to free Kurdistan and leader Apo. The war in Bashure [South] Kurdistan will be the end of the AKP [Justice and Development Party].”
