A Kurdish concert that was scheduled for Saturday in Turkey’s southeastern province of Mardin (Mêrdin) was cancelled two hours before the event due to the threat of the police, Kurdish musician Kasım Taşdoğan said on Instagram.
Both the police and the municipal police under the appointed mayor of Nusaybin District notified the cafe, where the concert was planned to take place, that they would intervene and close the cafe if the concert was held, according to Mezopotamya Agency.
After the unsuccessful negotiation attempts, Taşdoğan announced that the concert was cancelled without any justification and added, “We are not sad, we are not angry, we do not care.”
