Kurdish fighters from the People’s Defence Forces (HPG) have announced that they have launched a series of ‘actions’ against the new air-and-ground campaign that was launched by Turkey on 23 April in Zap, Avashin and Metina regions in Iraqi Kurdistan.
“Cenga Xabûr Revolutionary Action” was one of the announced actions of the HPG, which is led by Kurdish commander Piling Suruc. Suruc provided information about the ongoing clashes between the Kurdish fighters and Turkish armed forces in an interview with ANF.
He stated that Kurdish side does not take a step back in the face of Turkey’s military campaign, adding: “This operation [launched by Turkey] has been defeated by the resistance and perspectives that emerged with an ‘Apoist’ spirit. The resistance is taking place through the Cenga Xabûr and Cenga Bazên Zagrosê actions. The war waged by the Turkish state is based on tactics, it is psychological. All their propaganda is based on this.
“We are aware of our mission and responsibility and we will always defend our lands”, he said and continued: “The Turkish state will always find the guerrillas standing against the genocide they aim to commit. When we look especially into Cenga Xabûr action, we can say that there is an intense war on Keste and Hill Zendure in the Metina regions.
“We have never taken a single step back from our zones since the beginning. Everybody and our people should know that the propaganda [made by Turkey] is nothing but part of a psychological war. Our lands and forests are under fire and being burned by the bombs falling. People have to see that. If this is not seen and reacted against, the Turkish state will be encouraged by this silence and continue with its genocidal policies”.
