The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) whose special forces attacked three guerrillas between Kanê and Dêreshê villages in Iraqi Kurdistan on 13 December, want to construct a permanent checkpoint in the same area as the attack according to reports.
KDP special forces blocked an HPG guerrilla vehicle on the road between Kanê and Dêreshê villages in Amediye district on the night of December 13 and opened fire on the vehicle with heavy weapons.
Three guerrillas were seriously injured in the attack.
According to the local sources, the construction of a new checkpoint has been started after ten days after the attack (on 23 December) on the road in the Amediye district.
KDP is increasing their military prescence in the region by building new security points, according to the local sources. KDP began to build new military bases in the area around Rewandiz’s Gerwan village, including Simore Hill, Tuşreke Hill and the Aras mountain range.
According to the villagers, KDP’s special forces in Zini Werte were deployed to the bases.
The KDP is also building new military roads as well as bases. Local sources shared the information that new bases were built in the district of Çoman and Hacı Ümran in Iraqi Kurdistan.
In the recent statement made by the People’s Defense Central (HPG) Headquarters Commander Bawer Dersim, the area in question had been used as a transit route for HPG guerrillas for decades.
