Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) forces attacked a Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) camp with heavy weapons in the Berdosere area of the Xakurkê region at around 8.00am this morning, according to an ANF report based on local sources.
PKK guerilla forces reportedly avoided responding to prevent a clash and the KDP forces settled in the area.
Turkey’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) were also observed in the region during the KDP’s attack.
The probability of joint attacks by Turkey and the KDP has increased in recent days. KDP-affiliated media outlets have accused the PKK of causing the death of a Peshmergha fighter in a mine explosion on 12 March. The People’s Defence Units (HPG) Information Centre denied the claim on 13 March.
On 19 March, a villager named Lokman Çeto was injured when a Turkish military vehicle attacked a civilian vehicle.
The Turkish state also carried out an intense air strike on the Xakurkê region on 20 March.
