The European Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress (KCDK-E) has called for participants to join in the actions to be held on 10 April in several places across Europe, as part of the “We will defeat fascism together” campaign, launched by the European Union of Democratic Forces (ADGB).
The campaign will continue for six months and will end on 4 September. A peace and democracy meeting will be held as the final event.
The KCDK-E’s statement noted that the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) oppress Kurdistan’s territory and imprison thousands of people, adding that workers and the poor are burdened by the economic crisis.
“Deepening the pressure, the AKP-MHP government furthered its oppression using the pretext of the pandemic,” said the Congress in the statement, drawing attention to the isolation imposed on imprisoned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The KCDK-E also noted the ongoing assaults against the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) following attempts to close the party. However, the statement praised all those who are resisting, including women, students, workers, and young people.
The KCDK-E announced that revolutionaries, democrats, intellectuals, women, young people, and opponents from all walks of life have started a joint campaign in Europe and called for mass participation in the demonstrations.
