The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) has once again blocked the Jin News website.
The publishing ban came into effect on 5 December, and the decision was made by the BTK on the grounds of Diyarbakır (Amed) 3rd Criminal Court of Peace’s verdict.
The decision was as follows:
“Referring to the verdict dated 04/12/2020 and no 2020/4213 ruled by Diyarbakır 3rd Criminal Court of Peace, a protection measure has been imposed on the website (jinnews12.xyz) by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority”.
30 media outlets blocked in the last month

According to the Dicle Fırat Journalist Association’s latest press report, 91 journalists are imprisoned, and in November another eight were detained, two were arrested, five were sentenced to 20 years and three months in prison, and 47 are still on trial.
In addition, one newspaper was sentenced to an advertising ban, two television channels were fined, and access to 30 media outlets and one website was blocked.
Jin News
Jin News is the only news agency in Turkey that is run by women. It launched on 25 September 2017 and reports in the Kurdish, Turkish, Zazaki, Arabic and English languages. It employs female editors and reporters, and creates woman-oriented reports. Fifteen media outlets, including Turkey’s first female news agency, JINHA, have been shut down by a decree law issued on 29 October 2016.
