Having launched a new campaign in Iraqi Kurdistan on 23 April, Turkish armed forces have faced a counter-campaign by Kurdish fighters.
While the Turkish state aims to hit the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) targets in the mountainous range of Zap, Metina and Avashin, known as the “Medya Defence Zones”, members of the People’s Defence Forces (HPG) and Women’s Free Units (YJA-Star) announced that they have initiated a set of defensive “revolutionary actions” called “Bazên Zagrosê” and “Cenga Xaburê”.
Women of the YJA-Star have been active in the clashes after forming their own “guerilla units” in northern Iraq many years ago.
Talking to ANF, Kurdish female fighers shared their messages of resistance and called on the public to react against the aggression of the Turkish state.
