A large convoy of KDP pershmergas was moving along the road in Metîna on 5th June when there was a sudden large explosion. Five peshmergas lost their lives and 4 were injured as a result.
In the aftermath of these developments a joint committee has been formed, including parliamentarians from Iraq and the Federal Region of Kurdistan. The committee will conduct investigations in the region.
Goran group member Shahewan Rauf, who is on the committee from the parliament of Kurdistan said, “The committee represents the parliaments of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.”
Rauf explained that the committee included group and party members from the region.
“Today we will go to Zaxo, Seraniş and Batufayê, and tomorrow we will go to the Amediye region. We want to go first to where the peshmergas died. We will investigate all developments in the region. We will prepare a detailed report after our visit,” he said.
Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) had previously called for an independent and unbiassed committee to conduct an inquiry in response to the explosion in Metîna.
