While reactions to Hulusi Akar’s visit to Iraq continue, Mukhtar Al-Moussawi, a member of the Iraqi Parliament Foreign Affairs Commission, spoke to the Iraqi media about the Turkish military offensive targeting Iraq.
“Turkish attacks violate Iraqi territorial sovereignty and put Iraq’s national security at risk”, said Mukhtar Al-Moussawi in a statement he shared with the Iraqi media, warning that Iraq’s sovereignty is threatened by the Turkish offensive. “Any Turkish attack on Iraqi territories will endanger Iraq’s national security. Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi should make a stand against any Turkish attack on Iraqi territory”.
Another statement came from Dr. Kasım Merzanî from Salahaddin University in Erbil (Hewler). Merzanî pointed out that the way to stop attacks is to take a common stance against them. “The KDP [Kurdistan Democratic Party] should give up its support of Turkey”, said Merzanî in an interview with Roj News.
He emphasised that all Kurdish political forces should have a common policy to defend the legitimate rights of the Kurdish people.
