Iran hanged on Wednesday Kurdish politician and activist Sarkawt Ahmadi, who has been imprisoned in Iran for two years.
Kurdish politician and activist Sarkawt Ahmadi, who has been imprisoned in Iran’s Kermanshah Prison for two years, was secretly executed by the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday, reported Hengaw Organisation for Human Rights, a Norway-based group that monitors rights violations in Iran’s Kurdish regions.
Iranian government forces arrested 29-year-old Sarkawt Ahmadi, a political activist and former member of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan, in January 2021, while he was on his way to Europe.
The Kurdish activist was later sentenced to death for the murder of a police officer who was killed in 2017 by unknown armed men. Sarkawt was in Suleymaniyah, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq at the time.
