The hunger strikes in Turkish prisons against the isolation of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan and the violations of rights in Turkish prisons has begun its 52nd day with the 11th group of protestors.
While support spreads around the world, Kurdish people also started strikes in the Makhmour Camp in Iraqi Kurdistan on 18 December and the Lavrio Camp in Greece on the 4 January.
The strike in Makhmour Camp, which has been carried out at the Mexmûr Martyrs’ Families Association, began its 31st day, and the strike launched by Kurdish refugees in the Lavrio Camp in Greece is on its 14th day.
To protest the isolation of Öcalan and support the prison strikers, a hunger strike was also launched on 8 January in Helsinki, Finland, where the second group of seven people has just taken up the strike.
