Heinz Jürgen Schneider, a well-known criminal defense attorney in Hamburg has called on the German state to act for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan.
He previously had filed a criminal complaint with another German lawyer Britta Eder at the responsible Federal Prosecutor’s Office (BAW) in Karlsruhe, Germany against Erdoğan in relation to war crimes commiteed against the Kurdish population. One of Schneider’s client over the years included the ex-Red Army Faction, (RAF) member Christian Klar.
‘Öcalan should be treated in Germany like Navalny’
“The Federal German Government should act for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan,” Schneider said, pointing to Angela Merkel’s efforts for the Russian opposition leader Andre Nawalny.
Schneider stated that Kurdish people’s leader Öcalan, who suffers from health issues just like Navalny, should be brought to Berlin for medical treatment.
“If the German state would not act for Öcalan to be treated in Germany, then the attitude of Germany would be defined as nothing but hypocrisy,” the German lawyer said.
