The spokesperson for the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) reacted to the recent statements by Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, signalling a new incursion into northeast Syria, and said that ‘the policy of war’ was actually ‘a conspiracy’ targeting the opposition.
HDP spokesperson Ebru Günay added that ‘warmongering’ was an attempt of the Turkish administration to survive the intensifying political and economic crisis it was now faced with.
“As the government is seeking desperately to survive, it has once again resorted to warmongering. Whenever the crisis intensifies, it starts resuming its war threats at once,” she said.
“In spite of drawing conclusions from the errors in the Syrian policy which got them involved in war crimes, first Erdoğan, then Çavuşoğlu, threatened the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) with war again. Their instant reaction to diplomacy is war. Putin gives them an ultimatum on the Idlib issue, and in response, they threaten the Autonomous Administration. They do the same when they’re expecting to meet with Biden.”
Günay warned that the Erdoğan administration has tried to involve everyone, including the opposition parties, into becoming a part of the aggressive policies it has pursued.
“This administration is an outright war administration. Their only concern is to make everyone a part of this war. Turkey loses because of their policies. They try to make the public pay the price for their failures, and get it involved in their erroneous policies.”
