Speaking at the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) weekly press conference, HDP Spokesperson Ebru Günay responded to the recents attacks targeting their party and shared evaluations of recent political developments in Turkey.
Referring to the raid of an Istanbul office of the HDP on January 24, Günay said that banners and photographs of Abdullah Öcalan in their office had been given as an excuse for charges.
“Our party sees Mister Öcalan as an interlocutor for dialouge for a peaceful solution,” the HDP spokesperson said.
Günay also commented about the campaign of hysterical racist attacks targeting the HDP over the Abdullah Öcalan banners after the raid, referring to the petition “Öcalan is my will” signed by millions of people and presented to the Turkish Assembly.
Her evaluation of the police raid was as follows: “This is simply a revenge operation.”
“And who are those so-called ‘invisibles’, who abducted Gökhan Güneş?” she asked (referring to the dark gangs that abducted and tortured Gökhan Güneş) and said that HDP forcefully condemns such attempts of forced dissappearance.
Günay also shared HDP comdemnation of the arrest of prominent Kurdish women’s rights activist Ayşe Gökkan.
Ebru Günay finally announced that HDP will launch a “Campaign For Justice” on February 8.
