The Peoples’ United Revolutionary Movement (HBDH) in Europe issued a statement on the hunger strikes in Turkey’s prisons and called upon supporters of freedom in Europe to act on the prisoners’ demands.
”The isolation and violations of rights in prisons have increased to their highest level in order to break the will of prisoners who choose to resist”, said the United Revolutionary Movement.
The internationalist revolutionaries in Europe also declared their support for the hunger strikes in Turkish prisons. “We demand an end both to the isolation of Abdullah Öcalan and to the violations of rights in prisons more generally”, they said. “We support the resistance and hunger strikes. We should mobilise support in Europe to give voice to the demands of the hunger strikers”.
The HBDH condemned Turkey for the increasing number of forced disappearance and the abduction of Gökhan Güneş. They also stated that the ongoing Turkish military offensive in Rojava (the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria) and Iraqi Kurdistan is part of Turkey’s plan to crush Kurdish resistance.
