A house occupied by Kurdish agricultural workers from Urfa (Riha) in the Turkish city of Samsun’s Salıpazarı district was targeted in a gun attack by unidentified individuals on Thursday night. The assault occurred around 9 p.m., with multiple bullets striking the walls and windows of the partially constructed house where the workers were staying.
No injuries were reported, but the incident, which was captured on video by one of the workers, has heightened concerns over the safety of Kurdish seasonal labourers working far from their homes. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and an investigation has been launched to identify the perpetrators.
The incident underscores the precarious conditions faced by migrant agricultural workers in Turkey, particularly Kurdish workers, who often live in makeshift accommodations with limited security and are frequently vulnerable to racist attacks.
