Gökhan Kaymaz, an activist with the Socialist Youth Movement (SGH) who had sought political asylum in Germany, was taken from his accommodation in the southeast Bavarian town of Leipheim on Monday morning and forcibly taken to the airport for deportation, announced the European Confederation of Democratic Rights (ADHK).
Negotiations with the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior failed and Kaymaz was extradited to Turkey.
“We protest against the attitude of Germany, especially the state of Bavaria, towards political asylum seekers,” the ADHK said, raising concern for Kaymaz’s right to a fair trial and right to life.
Almanya Demokratik Haklar Federasyonu (ADHF), Almanya Göçmen İşçiler Federasyonu (AGİF), Almanya Türkiyeli İşçiler Federasyonu (ATİF), rights organisations and political parties in the region, including the German Federation for Democratic Rights (ADHF), Federation of Migrant Workers (AGIF), Federation of Turkish Workers (ATIF), Green Left Party’s electoral platform and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), protested against Kaymaz’s extradition.
