The Euphrates Region Health Committee is preparing to open new four health centres in Kobanê , one of which is a psychological support centre.
The winter season and the ongoing coronavirus epidemic have caused a high number of hospital admissions. While free services are provided in nine health institutions in Kobanê, new servies are to be added. In this context, the Euphrates Region Health Committee is preparing to open four new health centres.
Specialist doctors work in clinics in the city. There are between seven and 20 employees in health centres, which also include clinics for women and children.
Regarding the services provided by the health centre in Til Xezal, a local resident named Edole Osman said, “We can come to the health centre and get the medicines we need”.
Ammar Ehmed, who is the manager of the health centre in Şêran, stated that before the coronavirus outbreak, an average of 80 patients came to the centre daily to receive treatment. Noting that the number of patients receiving daily treatment decreased during the pandemic, Ehmed said the number of people coming to the hospital during the quarantine period decreased.
Psychological support centre to open
The Euphrates Region Health Committee will open new health institutions, including a psychological support centre, which will have six to nine employees. It will also aim to raise awareness in the public by explaining protection measures for coronavirus.
Psychological Support Unit Director Şêran Mihyedin Ehmed said that more people will apply to the unit as time goes by. Ehmed warned that psychological problems cause serious illnesses, and said their doors are always open to those who need support.
Euphrates Region Health Committee co-Chair Ehmed Mehmûd said they will open four new health centers in Kobanê, and that the problem of providing sufficient medical treatment was solved thanks to the help of the North and East Syria Health Committee.
