Two Turkish policemen were killed and seven others were wounded during an explosion in northern Syria’s Tel Abyad (Girêsipî), Turkish officials announced on Sunday.
One local [Syrian] police officer died and four others were wounded in the same explosion, which occurred after the detonation of explosives discovered which had been intended to be used by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) during bomb attacks planned against Turkey, the governor’s office in the southeastern province of Urfa said in a press statement.
However, according to the war watchdog Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the policemen were casualties of a landmine explosion in the countryside of Syria’s Raqqa, which is under Turkish control.
