Tuncer Bakırhan, co-chair of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), welcomed Nacho Sanchez Amor, the European Parliament’s (EP) Turkey Permanent Rapporteur, on Wednesday in the Turkish Parliament. Accompanying Bakırhan were Berdan Öztürk, co-spokesman of the Foreign Relations Commission, and MP Gülüstan Kılıç Koçyiğit.
The closed-door session focused on attacks against the DEM Party. Also discussed were developments in the ongoing Kobani Trial and Turkey’s relations with the European Union (EU).
Following the meeting with DEM Party leaders, Amor also engaged with several individuals dismissed under Statutory Decrees (KHK) issued during the State of Emergency (OHAL) period. This interaction took place in the parliamentary office of DEM Party’s Kocaeli Member of Parliament, Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, who leads the movement against unjust dismissals of public workers by KHK.
