Emine Şenyaşar’s vigil for justice began three months ago in front of the Urfa Courthouse after her husband and two sons were killed by Justice and Development Party (AKP) Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız’s relatives.
Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar have been continuing their sit-in protest and vigil in front of the Courthouse for 89 days, demanding justice for their family members. On Friday, the Şenyaşar family wanted to submit their petition to the Prosecutor’s Office to open a case against the 23 suspects identified by the prosecutor regarding the murder of three members of their family at Suruç State Hospital, MA reported.
However, the prosecutor, once again, did not accept or agree to see them. After their demands were rejected, the Şenyaşar family reacted against the decision. Emine Şenyaşar left the Courthouse in tears and started seeking justice by lamenting and digging the earth around the Courthouse.
As she dug the ground with her bare hands in the construction area of the Courthouse, Emine Şenyaşar called: “Where is my Celal (her son) and Adil? (her husband). Maybe justice is under the ground: I’ll dig it up.”
”Come and help me”, she cried out. “Let us bring justice together. No prosecutor, no judge here! We are dismissed wherever we go. My God, don’t leave them unpunished.”
The police reportedly tried to prevent the journalists from recording Emine Şenyaşar’s lament.
