An unknown drone targeted a car in the city of Sulaymaniyah in the east of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) on Friday, killing one person and injuring two, Mezopotamya Agency reported.
The injured were taken to hospital in Sulaymaniyah, according to Chamchamal (Çemçemal) district security officials, where the attack took place.
It is not yet known who carried out the drone attack, however, however, Turkey conducts continuous cross-border military attacks in northern Iraq against what they say are Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) positions.
The PKK is currently observing a ceasefire with Turkish troops, in compliance with Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council co-chair Cemil Bayık’s call on 9 February, due to the devastating twin earthquakes that had hit southeastern Turkey and northern Syria three days before.
