A member of the Mesopotamia Workers’ Association has been shot three times in front of the association’s offices in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, adding to the series of violent attacks against the group in the past year.

The co-mayors of Patnos in Turkey’s Kurdish-majority Ağrı province, Müşerref Geçer and Emrah Kılıç, who represent the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party, were detained on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, as the ongoing detention of Can Atalay, a Hatay MP from the Workers’ Party of Turkey sparks widespread protests, a renowned constitutional lawyer has criticised authorities for not releasing Atalay.

And the police sergeant responsible for the death of a Kurdish boy in Turkey on Wednesday has been released under judicial control, sparking outrage from the grieving family and their lawyer.
