The Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) delegation did indeed meet with Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan during their visit to İmralı prison island in Turkey in September 2022, they confirmed on Tuesday.
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have announced a counter-operation following an escalation in attacks conducted by Turkey and its allied Syrian rebel factions. The SDF claimed to have killed six Turkish-backed mercenaries as a result of the recent operation.
Selahattin Demirtaş’s lawyer, Mahsuni Karaman has warned of the possibility of at least seven life sentences for his client due to a tweet related to Turkey’s infamous Kobani trial. Karaman is challenging the charges against Demirtaş.
