In the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, unidentified gunmen fire at a group of Kurdish residents sitting unarmed guarding an entrance to their neighbourhood in Newroz, Kirkuk. Residents have recently been resisting an evacuation order.
A 16-year-old Kurdish boy from Sardasht, West Azerbaijan province in Iran, died last week during surgery for injuries sustained during his arrest by Iranian security forces amid nationwide Jin Jîyan Azadî (‘Woman Life Freedom’) protests.
A group of 564 people released a declaration titled “Let’s Be the Voice of Peace” in Istanbul and Diyarbakır. They called for the revival of peace talks between the Turkish government and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
KurdS, alongside supporters took to the streets of Paris this Saturday protesting what they call an eleven-year cover-up by French authorities following the murder of three Kurdish activists in 2013.
