Yazidi representatives have called on the Iraqi government to allocate 1.5 billion dollars of its 2023 budget to a specialised fund for the reconstruction of Sinjar, the Yazidi homeland in northern Iraq known as Ćengal.
A spokesman for a group of journalists and activists jailed in Iraqi Kurdistan, known as the Badinan prisoners, backed allegations that the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) attempted to poison one of the detained journalists.
