President Erdoğan has reiterated Turkey’s stance with regard to Sweden’s bid to join NATO, following the resignation of Bob Menendez, the US Senator blocking Turkey’s potential acquisition of F-16 fighter jets, a point of negotiation on the Nordic country’s accession to the bloc.
As of Wednesday 42,500 people have arrived in Armenia after fleeing Azerbaijani aggression in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Refugees struggle to survive as they flee the disputed region, and thousands set up in makeshift camps.
A raging fire has torn through a wedding party in northern Iraq, killing at least 114 and injuring 150 members of Iraq’s dwindling Christian minority.
And members of a lawyers’ association in Turkey have held simultaneous press conferences in at least nine provinces, spotlighting the continued isolation on a Turkish prison island of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan.
