The Iranian authorities are denying imprisoned Kurdish women’s rights activist Zeynab Jalalian access to health care, Amnesty International reported, launching a petition calling for her release.
In a recent phone call with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan outlined his conditions for Sweden’s NATO membership. Erdoğan emphasised that Sweden should prohibit pro-Kurdish demonstrations within its borders if it wants Turkey to accept its NATO accession.
A chief state prosecutor in Turkey on Monday initiated a legal investigation against journalist Merdan Yanardağ for saying that the Turkish government’s absolute isolation of the imprisoned Kurdistan Workers’ Party leader Abdullah Öcalan violates the country’s laws on the execution of sentences.
As the 26 June marks United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, an on-the-ground report indicated the prevalence of torture practices used by various factions operating in Syria.
