On Tuesday morning a Turkish drone killed a Syrian Democratic Forces fighter in Syria’s northern city of Kobane, as Turkish attacks intensified against the region.
Also on Tuesday, several cities in Turkey saw protests under police blockade after the start of mass arrests of journalists, lawyers, artists and activists, mainly in Kurdish-majority cities.
Meanwhile, journalism and human rights organisations have condemned Turkey’s arrest of more than 150 people, calling for their release in the absence of any evidence against them.
Turkey’s Presidential Spokesman İbrahim Kalın has denied claims that the government met with Abdullah Öcalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party.
