The Swedish embassy in Baghdad went up in flames in the early hours of Thursday. The attack was prompted by a protest in Sweden scheduled for later the same day, in which protesters planned to burn an Iraqi flag and a Quran.
Parliamentary elections have once again been pushed back in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, as authorities schedule polls for February 2024 at the earliest. The region remains in political turmoil.
