Turkish police took into custody 17 people linked to pro-Kurdish parties and institutions, during a raid in Istanbul early on Tuesday. Those detained included members of the People’s Democratic Party and the People’s Democratic Congress, an umbrella organisation of left-wing political movements.
As political parties and candidates continue campaigning across several provinces twelve days before voters in Turkey head to the polls, on Monday the Kurdish electoral alliance announced its support for the opposition’s joint candidate, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces on Monday confirmed Turkey’s claim of killing a suspected leader of ISIS in north Syria, and added that the man was under the protection of Turkish intelligence.
The Turkish forces reportedly sent military reinforcement, including troops and military and armoured vehicles to Deir Ballout, a village in northwest Syria that separates areas held by Turkish-backed armed opposition factions and those held by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.
