The construction of buildings that do not meet zoning regulations will be considered a violation of Turkey’s Constitution, Turkish President Erdoğan said on Wednesday, despite previously promoting such amnesties as a ‘problem solver’ in rallies and campaigns.
A Turkish court accepted the indictment on Wednesday against journalists arrested in Diyarbakır (Amed) in June 2022, accusing them of membership of an illegal organisation and demanding up to 15 years in prison for their reporting. The trial will begin on 11 July.
Middle East expert Steven Cook stated that a clean victory for Erdoğan’s rival Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the presidential candidate of the opposition bloc, is the least likely outcome of the elections.
The German Federal Justice Minister warned against the use of hate speech by supporters of President Erdoğan during the upcoming Turkish election campaign in Germany.
