Kurdistan Workers’ Party leader Abdullah Öcalan’s 1998 live phone call from Damascus has resurfaced on social media. In August 1998, Öcalan had announced a ceasefire with the hope of a democratic resolution for the Kurdish question on MED TV, broadcasting from Belgium.
Turkish-backed Syrian National Army or SNA militants conducted an attack targeting the Manbij region in northern Syria on Friday. The brutal attack resulted in the death of five children. Ferhad Shami, the head of the Syrian Democratic Forces or SDF media centre condemned the assault.
Javad Rouhi, a 35 year-old Iranian who was jailed after participating in the protests in response to the killing of Jina Amini, died suddenly in prison on Thursday. Iranian authorities allege he died of a seizure, but reports vary as to the cause of death.
Syrian government forces and Iranian-backed armed groups have been accused of infiltrating and inciting violence in the Syrian Democratic Forces-held regions of Deir Ezzor, Syria by the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
