Hîlala Zêrîn Culture Week activities started in Ehdas district of Shahba with hundreds of people taking part in the events. The events are taking place in Shahba’s villages and refugee camps where locals were forcibly displaced to after Turkey and its mercenaries took the control of Afrin in 2018.
On the first day of the Hîlala Zêrîn Culture Week a folklore and music concert was performed. Famous Kurdish Band, Martyr Mizgin Group took the stage that was decorated with a painting prepared by the Martyr Hêva Art group. Then Çiyayê Kurmênc Group performed folklore and the participants danced traditional Kurdish dance. (Govend).
Speaking at the event a member of Hîlala Zêrîn, Rûmet Beko said that thier aim is to protect Kurdish culture and art with the events they organize during the Culture Week.
“We have to defend our culture, as especially the Turkish state is aiming to annihilate our culture” she said.
Hesna Hesen, a member of Kongreya Star Coordination, said that they protect their culture and arts following the ideas of their leader Abdullah Öcalan. “We are following the ideas and philosophy of Leader Apo. This is the reason for the attack on our culture and art.” she stated.
Hîlala Zêrîn member Şêrîn Omer on the other hand, stated that they want to show the power and commitment of Kurdish women to their culture. “Women are not weak. We want to show that a women’s will can not be easily defeated.Women will always protect their culture and will succeed,” she said.
