Bedran Çiya Kurd, Autonomous Administration of North East Syria deputy co-chair, shared his evaluations on the latest developments in Northern Syria and the Middle East with Hawar News Agency.
Kurd refuted the claims that Russia had requested that the Autonomous Administration hand over Ain Issa to the Syrian government. “We can confirm that these claims do not reflect the truth. What is happening there is a coordinated move between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Russian forces.”
Regarding the latest attacks from Turkey into Northern Syria, Kurd said, “Turkey is trying to expand its occupation. They are trying to take over the whole M4 international highway. If the appropriate political conditions are met and Turkey gets the green light from Russia and the United States, it will not hesitate to complete its plans. Neither Russia nor the United States should allow Turkey to do that.”
Kurd stated that Turkey uses the current state of domestic political affairs of the United States for its advantage.
“There is a power shift in America. In this process, Turkey tries to create chaos, support terrorism, and expand the zones under its occupation in the region. This situation poses a danger for the interests of all parties. Turkey should be stopped.”
According to Kurd, there is no sign that there is a possible agreement between Russia and Turkey. “If Russia does not react to the attacks of the Turkish state, it will be clear that there is a secret agreement between the two parties. Therefore, we hope that Russia’s silence will not continue, because Russia is the guarantor of the agreement in this region and plays a leading role.”
Commenting on the potential scenario that if there is a new attack within their region Kurd said, “This attack will have repercussions on the whole of Syria, on the region, as well as having international outcomes,” and he added, “We will defend our region till the end.”
