Turkish forces shelled a poultry farm in the Shahba area north of Aleppo, eastern Syria, on Wednesday, killing a civilian and injuring a teenager.
The Hawar News Agency (ANHA) reported that 30-year-old civilian Youssef al-Hayek was killed in the bombing. In addition, a 16-year-old, Abd al-Rahman al-Hayek, was injured in the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital in Shahba. As well as causing human casualties, the attack caused extensive damage to the poultry farm.
The attack is part of a series of recent Turkish military actions targeting autonomous regions in northern and eastern Syria. On the same day as the Shahba incident, Turkish drones reportedly targeted Syrian security forces in Al-Malikiyah (Derik), in the far northeast of Syria.
Turkey has been actively involved in large-scale military operations inside Syrian territory, primarily targeting Kurdish-held areas. These operations have included bombings and drone strikes, raising significant security and humanitarian concerns.
Turkey’s unilateral military actions have raised international concern, with a detailed report presented to the European Parliament plenary on Tuesday calling these actions a violation of international law.
